Cup Vitranc used to be called Bukovniks downhill. This was a very attractive, demanding and also dangerous downhill. The most challenging parts of the race track used to be called channel and S (because the race track used to make an interesting S turn).
The said downhill did not receive an approval with the FIS that is why the organisers had to opt for slalom and giant slalom. And thus the Cup Vitranc was born.
