Former successful alpine skier Bojan Križaj, who wrote a Slovenian (then still under former Yugoslavia) winter fairy tale, likes to remember his performances at the Vitranc Cup. Here is how he summed up his impressions:
"I was competing at Vitranc since I was very young. At the Vitranc Cup, I know all the tracks where the races took place, i.e. over Es, the old track towards the Petrol gas station, where I was very successful once and where I won in slalom and was also third in the giant slalom. It was crazy, full of people; they said 30,000 or even more. The biggest problem then was to get back to Kranjska Gora after the race, because it was almost impossible to break through that entire crowd. The peak of everything was in 1986, when Rok Petrovi and I took first and second place. The great Ingemar was third at the time. I thought the spectators were going to explode. This was the peak of Kranjska Gora. I hope Kranjska Gora will experience something like that again, but so far that event was definitely the peak. "
